Questions for the shop

The questions for each point of a visit, from drop-off to the week after the repair, with room for the answer. Tick each one when you have asked it.

For a first pass, this sheet is optional: print it for the glovebox, or keep it open on a phone at the counter. The four questions under "When they call with a list" are the ones the quick start uses.

Questions

Grouped by the point in the visit. Write the answer and who gave it. Uncheck the list before the next visit, or print a copy for the glovebox.

How to use this sheet

  • One group per point in the visit. Ask the group for where you are: drop-off, the call with a list, paying, or after the repair.
  • Write the answer and who gave it. "12 months or 12,000 miles, parts and labor; the service writer, Tuesday" is a record; a tick alone is not.
  • Groups that do not apply are marked from your setup. The warranty and hybrid or electric groups apply only to those cars.
  • Clear the ticks before the next visit, or export the car file first to keep the answers.
Fictional example

There are no example rows: the questions are fixed and the answers are yours. In the fictional examples, Priya Raman asks the four questions about each item on her list by text, and the Bells ask whether an oil change at an independent shop would affect their warranty.

Limits

The questions help you get facts in writing. The answers are the shop's, and an answer about a warranty or a state rule is a statement to check against the booklet or the agency, not a ruling.
